Modern design is the concept that emerged on the cusp of the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. It is emerged in the late 19th and reflected widely in homes in the 20th century. Several designers of the 21st century are known for shaping modern architecture, including Michelle Boudreau, Joanna Gaines, and Nate Berkus. Modern designs typically use ACP sheets and plywood.
Architecture is an art, and it changes with time, with modern elements. If you take a stroll around your neighborhood, you will learn about the changes in design, if you look at houses from all decades.
What is Modern Design?
Modern Design originated in the designated period that includes the early to mid-20th century. Modern materials such as plywood, ACP, and ZCP sheets have replaced stone, wood, or brick with modern materials such as steel and aluminum composites.
Modern design is often associated with neutral color pallete, sustainable material, monochromatic material, clean lines, and minimalism, as it was a take on the historical aesthetic movement which started in the late 19th century.
As we speak of modern design it is important to understand how you can give your home a modern update by being relevant to current interior design trends. Here are the trends explained, so you don't have to do your research.
How Will Design Reflect in Interiors and Exteriors in 2023?
Design trends for 2023 are vast and varied. From using sustainable materials to experimenting with new textures, colors, and new materials. But, most importantly, in 2023, you will experience a lot of designs based on different moods. Moods that create a sense of serenity, or bring joy to design will be reflected through patterns, textures, and colors.
Design Trends of 2023
Even though we wish to have our homes designed by Piyush and Priyanka Mehra or Gauri Khan Designs, it is always not feasible or affordable.
However, instead of taking inspiration from random Pinterest pictures, it's time to refurbish your home by taking notes from designers of the modern era.
Armchairs have taken a back seat lately in interiors, as most people are replacing armchairs with comfortable couches.
1. Bold Colours
In 2023, designers and homeowners will be more depictive of design and hues and instead of settling for a neutral color palette, you will experience more of bold designs and colors. In colors, golden will be among the top choices for designers, along with that, the metallic shade would be a choice for exterior cladding.
ACP sheet or metal composite panel that has diverse hues and is sustainable will be the replacement of acrylic paints on walls.
2. Maximalism
Bid adieu to boring and beige in 2022, rather be maximalist in design. You can check out the last blog, in which I discussed how maximalism is the current favorite in GenZ.
According to Roxy Owens, Founder and Designer of Society Social, in the coming years, get ready to say "Goodbye to monochromatic neutrals and minimalist design". Consider layers of textures, a mix of colors, prints, patterned lampshades, and many more statement accents instead of clean lines.
3. Going Green
In 2022, and the coming year, 2023, green will be the dominant color in interior design. Green will not only be seen in colors, but also through sustainability. Instead of using plastic shelves or materials which do not last, and will not degrade in quality within a few years.
Timeless design made of natural materials such as wood or stone is preferred, as modernism is becoming more into inheritable designs. High-rise plywood closets, wall paneling, and marble flooring is part of that.
Conclusion
The use of the right raw material plays an important role in shaping the interior and exterior, for sophisticated design. Creating practical spaces with plywood, bought from renowned plywood brands, along with aluminum composite panels can create an impact in your home. So, my suggestion will be to cover the walls with metallic ACP series, cover the ceiling with bold brown colors, and paint the furniture with paprika red, be bold with choices. It will be difficult to balance surely, but the result will feel sumptuous.
